during the 17th Annual Jerry Segal Classic. Through the commitment of generous sponsors and supporters, the Segal Classic
exceeded expectations by raising $1 million, bringing the 17-year total to more than $6.2 million The Philadelphia region's largest single-day charity golf event included nearly 400 golfers at The ACE Club and Green Valley Country Club, both located in Lafayette Hill, Pa. More than 500 guests attended the dinner program at Green Valley Country Club, where raffles and live and silent auctions took place. Some of the sports and media celebrities who participated were NBA Hall-of-Famer Billy Cunningham, Philadelphia Flyers' legendary goalie Bernie Parent, WIP 610AM Sports Talk radio host Howard Eskin, Philadelphia Phillies' Director of Media and Public Affairs Scott Palmer, KYW TV-3 sports director Beasley Reese, 76ers play-by-play announcer Mark Zumoff, former 76ers head coach Fred Carter and player Aaron McKie, former Philadelphia Eagles' Mike Mamula, and more. 2005 Segal Classic Raises Record Amount $822,000 Raised to Benefit Patients of Magee The 16th Annual Jerry Segal Classic, held on September 30, 2005, raised an event-record $822,000 to benefit patients of Magee Rehabilitation Hospital. Nearly 400 golfers participated, and 500 guests attended the dinner program at Green Valley Country Club in Lafayette Hill, PA. The money contributed pushed the total amount raised over the $5 million mark during the event's 16-year history. The funds help create and enhance programs and services for individuals with spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, amputation, and other impairments at Magee. Among those taking part in the event were NBA Hall-of-Famer Billy Cunningham, WPVI-TV 6 anchor Scott Palmer, KYW TV-3 sports director Beasley Reese, WIP 610-AM radio host Howard Eskin, and more.
