AMP-PEER: AMPUTEES HELPING AMPUTEES

HAVE YOU EVER WANTED TO TALK TO ANOTHER AMPUTEE?

BEFORE YOUR AMPUTATION

Perhaps you would like to see an artificial limb. And how an amputee walks, sits and gets around. Or have questions that can best be answered by someone who has been there!

Will I walk?
Drive a car?
Go back to work?
Dance?
Swim?

AFTER YOUR AMPUTATION

You will probably have numerous questions after your amputation as well. Then we can provide you with emotional support and practical information on everyday concerns.  "Talking it out" with another amputee can make the adjustment easier.

..AMP-PEER IS HERE

AMP-PEER is a SUPPORT group of volunteers at Magee Rehabilitation. AMP-PEER is a free service that gives amputees the opportunity to talk to one another. The AMP-PEER group SHARES their experiences. They are living proof that amputees can recover and live normal lives.

Physicians and other health care professionals may refer persons needing AMP-PEER's services.

HERE'S HOW

All you need to do is call the Peer Coordinators office at Magee at (215) 587-3174 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Give your name, telephone number and request and an amputee volunteer will call you. We attempt to match age, interests and specific disability when selecting volunteers.
