17th Annual Humanitarian Award Dinner Raises $110,000

Cozen O'Connor received Magee Rehabilitation's 2004 Humanitarian Award at the Hospital's 17th Annual Humanitarian Award Dinner on November 16, at the Four Seasons Hotel. Steven Cozen and Patrick O'Connor received the award on behalf of their law firm. Cozen O'Connor is known for its community service and leadership; the firm actively encourages the investment of time, energy and resources by its attorneys and staff into service activities. In addition to lending support to Magee Rehab, Cozen O'Connor contributes to the American Red Cross, United Way, Catholic Charities, the Police Athletic League, the American Cancer Society, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and many more.

The dinner raised approximately $110,000 for Magee's patient programs, an all time high for the event. Dinner MC Joe Gerber, Esq. of Cozen O'Connor, welcomed 300 guests. Won Shin, Esq. spoke about his experiences as a Magee patient and attorney. Pete Albert, Executive Vice President of Sovereign Bank, and Hall of Famer Billy Cunningham highlighted Cozen O'Connor's accomplishments in charity work and community development. Joseph J. McLaughlin, Chairman of Magee's Board of Trustees, and Magee President and Medical Director, Dr. William E. Staas, Jr presented the Humanitarian Award.

Previous Humanitarian Award recipients attending the dinner included: Dr. Paul Brucker, and Jerry and Carolyn Segal. Notable dinner guests included: Philadelphia Phillies legend Gary Maddox, Thomas Collins of GlaxoSmithKline, and Thomas Hill of PECO Energy.
