Dr. Guy Fried joined the Magee staff in 1989. He earned a BA in psychology with additional studies in chemistry, biology and economics from Hofstra University in New York in 1981. After graduation, he attended Yale Medical School where upon completion of his thesis he received his MD degree in 1985.
Dr. Fried is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation with further board certifications in Pain Medicine, Spinal Cord Injury Medicine, and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
He is a Professor, Clinical and Educational Scholarship Track of Rehabilitation Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
He has twice received the Jefferson Rehab Residency Attending of the Year award for teaching. In 2003 he received the Robert H. Condon Teaching Award – Presented to Faculty Member (First Annual) who Demonstrated Outstanding Contributions to Patient Care and Resident Education by Senior Residents from the Department of Rehabilitation at Thomas Jefferson University. In 2007 he received the Gerald J. Herbison, MD Award for Mentorship – Presented Annually to Faculty who Demonstrate Exceptional Commitment to Mentoring Residents and the Dean’s Citation for Significant Contributions to the Advancement of Education at Jefferson Medical College. For four years, he has been voted as one of Philadelphia Magazine’s “Top Docs”. In 2007-2008, he was voted one of the Best Doctors in America.
