Jeanne G. Doherty, MD, joined the medical staff at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in January 2000. She received her BS in Biology at Saint Joseph’s University and earned her medical degree at Georgetown University. She completed her internal medicine internship at Pennsylvania Hospital and completed her residency training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Dr. Doherty is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Thomas Jefferson University.

She enjoys providing long-term care in the Magee Lifetime Follow-Up Clinic treating patients with a wide variety of conditions including: spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, amputation, chronic pain, other neurologic diagnoses and musculoskeletal injuries.

As Assistant Medical Director, she works as physician representative and liaison leading many successful hospital performance improvement initiatives to improve the quality of patient care. This has led to recognition by The Hospital and Health System Association Pennsylvania (HAP), Health Care Improvement Foundation and National Press Ganey for Operational Excellence and Patient Safety Awards.

In her role as director of Utilization Management, she leads the hospital appeals, audits and clinical documentation initiatives collaborating with utilization management coordinators, case managers, finance department and clinical teams, to strongly advocate for the appropriate coverage of services for patients.

She is an active member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPMR), the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association (AMRPA) and HAP.  She has served as a Board member for the Legal Clinic for the Disabled and as a member of the Medical Directors Advisory Panel and Joint Commission’s Long-Term Care Professional and Technical Advisory Committee (PTAC). She has published in “The Journal of Spinal Cord Medicine,” written chapters for leading textbooks in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and presents locally and nationally on rehabilitation-related topics. As clinical assistant professor for the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Thomas Jefferson Medical College, she enjoys teaching medical students and residents as well as working as a volunteer member of the Guillain-Barre Foundation and MANNA (Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance).
