Magee Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation introduces the“Community Program Fund”

The Magee Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation, in a response to meet the growing needs of individuals with disabilities in the community, is proud to introduce the Magee Community Program Fund.

This newly created fund will support the following great programs that will help our former patients and those in the community improve the quality of their lives:

  • Wheelchair sports - competitive teams in basketball, rugby and tennis.
  • Think First - an outreach program that sends injury survivors out in the community to speak to school-aged students about violence and injury prevention.
  • Computer Training - educational classes to help individuals with disabilities learn new skills to help them re-enter school or the workforce.
  • Patient Learning Resource Center - an educational facility inside of Magee where patients, former patients, family members, medical professionals, and community members can turn to research and learn more about disabilities, medical conditions, computer training, and access other great resources.
  • Peer Mentor Program - matches newly injured patients to individuals with similar injuries who can mentor and counsel them about living life to the fullest.
  • Injury Support Groups - where those living with spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, aphasia, strokes, and Multiple Sclerosis, and their family members can gather at monthly meetings to discuss challenges, issues, and successes.

This fund will be seeking support from the community and will be the beneficiary of funds raised at the spring fundraising event, the Night of Champions, which will be held on Friday, May 5th.
