Magee Rehabilitation Hospital, sports celebrities to support Magee Community Program Fund at 6th Annual Night of Champions
Billy Cunningham, Andy Reid, Phil Martelli, Fran Dunphy, John Harbaugh, and others to attend PHILADELPHIA – Local celebrities from the Philadelphia sports world will join Magee Rehabilitation to support the Hospital’s Sixth Annual Night of Champions. The event, scheduled for Friday, May 5, from 6-10 p.m., will be held at the Sheet Metal Workers Union Hall on 1301 South Columbus Blvd., Philadelphia, Pa. The event includes dinner, raffle prizes and auctions of autographed sports memorabilia, exclusive gifts, restaurant certificates, getaway weekends, and travel packages. All funds benefit Magee’s Community Program Fund. The star-studded event will feature celebrities such as NBA Hall-of-Famer Billy Cunningham, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid and special teams coach John Harbaugh, St. Joseph’s University men’s basketball coach Phil Martelli, new Temple University men’s basketball coach Fran Dunphy, WIP radio host Howard Eskin, and many more. John Wendkos, a local businessman who is a member of the Magee Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees and a generous supporter of Magee’s patients and programs, will receive the 2006 Magee Champion in the Community Award. The award is presented annually to a community leader who supports and advocates for individuals with disabilities. Magee’s Community Program Fund was created to support programs at the Hospital that help former Magee patients and those in the community improve their quality of lives. Individual tickets for the Night of Champions cost $125, with many group sponsorship packages available. Chaddsford Winery will host a wine tasting VIP reception an hour before the event to benefit Magee. IBEW Local No. 98 is sponsoring this year’s Night of Champions.
