Narberth Resident Promoted to Executive Director of HIREABILITY at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital

Philadelphia – Rich Massaro of Narberth, Pa. (19072), has recently been promoted to Executive Director of HIREABILITY, which is headquartered at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia. HIREABILITY functions as a link between people with disabilities and businesses. HIREABILITY, with its knowledge of disability issues, its industry-based leadership and its employment expertise, helps people with disabilities find competitive employment. Massaro has been the program director of HIREABILITY since 2002, acting as interim Executive Director since January 2005. His primary responsibilities include managing program development and performance at HIREABILITY to help people with disabilities find employment in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Massaro has more than 20 years of professional experience in business, social, and economic development and change. He has expertise in needs assessment, strategic planning, management, monitoring, and evaluation, and extensive multilingual/multicultural experience in knowledge and skills transfer and in teaching change leadership.

Before joining HIREABILITY, he was a strategic planning consultant since 1998.  He also was an adjunct faculty member in the Counseling Psychology Program at Temple University. Earlier in his career, Massaro conducted missionary work in Africa. In addition to English, he speaks a variety of languages, including, Swahili, Maasai, French, Latin, Classical Greek, German, and Hausa.

Massaro did doctoral studies in International Development Planning and Leadership Training at the University of California, Los Angeles. He received an M.Div. and an M.A. degree from the Catholic Theological Union at Chicago and a B.A. degree in English and philosophy at Duquesne University.
