Magee Rehabilitation Hospital’s Annual Calendar Showcases Patients’ Artwork

Magee Rehabilitation Hospital’s 2007 Patient Calendar was recently published. The annual calendar recognizes and celebrates artwork created by current and former patients with physical and cognitive disabilities. Each month showcases a patient’s creative work and includes information about the patient and his/her disability. The calendar has been designed and distributed each year since 2004 to provide an outlet for creative expression.

A panel of judges selected the artwork for Magee’s calendar from among many submissions. Watercolors, charcoal sketches, pastels, photography, and sculpture are among the calendar’s monthly renditions.

Art therapy is part of Magee’s Clinical Outreach Program that includes, among others, music and movement therapies, horticultural therapy, theater classes and wheelchair sports programs. All offer the potential to find joy, passion and purpose after a disability.
