Chef Joseph Poon to host interactive Food Sculpture Class for people with disabilities

Philadelphia (June 2003) - Chef Joseph Poon will host an interactive Food Sculpture Class for people with disabilities from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, June 23 at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital, 16th and Race Streets, in center-city Philadelphia.

Chef Poon will instruct individuals with disabilities in Garde Manger—the art of preparing, presenting, and decorating cold food for buffets and banquets. Creating carved fruit and vegetable centerpieces is one of the most artistic specialties in the culinary arena. Chef Poon will tailor his usual Garde Manger techniques to accommodate individuals with physical disabilities.

Chef Poon is the creator of Joseph Poon Asian Fusion Restaurant, a top-rated Chinese restaurant in Philadelphia’s Chinatown. His interest in working with the disabled population stems from his work with New Populations, a company that establishes connections between expanding populations and local and national businesses.
