Open Call For Artists With Disabilities

Magee Rehabilitation To Launch Art Calendar
Philadelphia (April 2003)—Magee Rehabilitation Hospital is developing a calendar for 2004 that will feature artwork created by people with disabilities. Each month will feature artwork from individuals with a wide variety of physical and cognitive disabilities. Artwork can use any media including paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, and collage.

Magee will host free art workshops for individuals with disabilities on Saturday, May 10 from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. and on Friday, May 30 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Art materials will be supplied at these workshops. No prior art experience is necessary. To sign up for a free workshop or to submit artwork for consideration in the calendar, call Mari Doran at (215) 587-3203.

Magee’s Art Therapy program allows individuals with disabilities to process fears and anxieties that result from their disability. Patients are encouraged to explore their self-expression through exercises in Art Therapy.
