Narberth “Hair-a-thon” to Benefit Magee Patients
Philadelphia (April 2003) - The Capriotti Hair Salon in Narberth, PA will host a “Hair-a-thon” from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2003. All proceeds from the event will benefit patients of Magee Rehabilitation Hospital. Susan Patrick is a stylist at the Capriotti Hair Salon. She and her sister, Dianne Verdone, created the “Hair-a-thon” event as a way to “pay back” Magee Rehabilitation for the wonderful care their father received. Robert Patrick was a longtime Philadelphia firefighter before his stroke on June 24, 2002. Mr. Patrick came to Magee partially paralyzed. He also suffered from aphasia, an impairment of language that affects a person’s speech, and the ability to read or write. Mr. Patrick relearned how to read and write during his six-week in-patient stay at Magee. He has since returned to the Hospital as a member of the Magee Aphasia Support Group. The Aphasia Support Group provides an opportunity to practice speech and language skills in a supportive environment, provides education about aphasia and encourages socialization among the members. “We are excited to be giving back to Magee in such a fun way,” says Susan Patrick. “My dad has come a long way and we want to help others continue to benefit at Magee.” Women’s haircuts are $35 and men’s haircuts are $20. All proceeds go to the benefit of Magee’s patients. Appointments are necessary. Please call the Capriotti Hair Salon at (610) 660-9201 to make an appointment. |
