Former Magee Rehabilitation Hospital patient Frankie La Macchia was named a 2011 Philadelphia Daily News Sexy Single.

La Macchia, who sustained a spinal cord injury from a motorcycle accident, recently starred in a series of videos that show those with disabilities--particularly wheelchairs--how to live happy, well-rounded, healthy lives by staying active in their communities and in the activities that they love. The videos show Frankie using SEPTA to get around, making his kitchen more user-friendly, using equipment at his gym, clothes shopping, and checking out bars and restaurants in Philadelphia to see if they are truly wheelchair-accessible before going there to hang out with his friends.

The videos were created by Magee Recreational Therapist Anna Martin and made possible through a grant from the Kessler Foundation.

Anna and Magee nominated Frankie for the Philadephia Daily News Sexy Singles after working with him on the videos.
