The Inpatient Seating Clinic Advanced Clinician (OT/PT) is responsible for both clinical treatment of patients, as well as the clinical mentoring of staff therapists. This role is integral to providing expert clinical services to people who are inpatient at the main hospital. The OT/PT specialist in this role will assist the Therapy Managers and Supervisors on all floors with OT and PT clinical mentoring, specifically for seating, positioning, wheelchair prescription, and equipment problem solving. They will be primarily responsible for the postural evaluation/re-evaluation, fitting of equipment, and documentation of patients seen while inpatient at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital. In addition they will provide daily, in-clinic guidance and skill demonstration for staff members, coordinate and teach a variety of interdisciplinary clinics, rounds, and classes within specialty area, and provides suggestions to Therapy Managers and Supervisors regarding staff development. Individuals in these roles will provide up to 25% direct patient care responsibilities in traditional OT or PT treatment sessions including week day, weekend, and holiday coverage. Candidates must be able to stand, walk, stoop, and lift in order to effectively treat patients and must be able to exert 50 pounds of force while lifting patients and/or devices or have reasonable accommodations.
Position Requirements:
1. Demonstrates advanced clinical skills, knowledge, and competency in specialty area.
2. Possesses work skills, including effective communication, organization, initiative, interpersonal relations, and flexibility.
Education: Bachelors or MasterҒs Degree or Doctorate from an accredited OT or PT program.
Licensures&Certifications: Valid Pennsylvania license in Occupational or Physical Therapy. OTs must have a valid certification from the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Must be CPR certified. Must be ATP certified or actively working toward ATP certification with goal of attaining ATP certification status within one year being in the position.
Experience: At least three years clinical experience in inpatient and/or outpatient neurorehabilition. At least two years of experience in the clinical supervision and/or direct mentoring of Occupational or Physical therapy staff and students required.
