PHILADELPHIA, PA, May 20, 2014-Magee Rehabilitation Hospital physicians Barbara Browne, M.D., Guy Fried, M.D. and Christopher Formal, M.D. were recently recognized by their peers as three of the best physicians in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Dr. Browne was named a Top Doc in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by Philadelphia Magazine, while Dr. Fried and Dr. Formal were named to the 2014 Best Doctors in America list.

Philadelphia Magazine's annual Top Doctors list is developed in conjunction with Castle Connolly Medical, Ltd. by randomly surveying physicians and medical leadership across the country. These select individuals nominate outstanding physicians in a variety of specialties and subspecialties to whom they would send members of their family. From these nominated physicians, the Top Doctors are selected based on a range of criteria, including professional qualifications, professional reputation, experience, disciplinary history, among others.

Dr. Barbara Browne is the Medical Director of Magee Rehabilitation's Stroke and Geriatrics Program. She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Physical Medicine, and is renowned as an expert in the areas of stroke, geriatrics and spinal cord injury rehabilitation. Dr. Browne has published abstracts in medical journals, and conducted numerous clinical lectures on stroke rehabilitation to both consumer and professional audiences. This is her fourth year as one of Philadelphia Magazine's Top Doctors.

The highly regarded Best Doctors in America List, assembled by Best Doctors, Inc. and audited and certified by Gallup, results from exhaustive polling of over 45,000 physicians in the United States. Doctors in over 40 specialties and 400 subspecialties of medicine appear on this year's List. In a confidential review, current physician listees answer the question, "If you or a loved one needed a doctor in your specialty, to whom would you refer?" Best Doctors, Inc. evaluates the review results, and verifies all additional information to meet detailed inclusion criteria. The experts who are part of the Best Doctors in America database provide the most advanced medical expertise and knowledge to patients with serious conditions - often saving lives in the process by finding the right diagnosis and right treatment.

Dr. Guy Fried is the Medical Director of Magee Rehabilitation's Spinal Cord Injury Unit and Outpatient Services. He is board certified in Physical Medicine Rehabilitation with further board certifications in Pain Medicine, Spinal Cord Injury Medicine, and Electro diagnostic Medicine.

Dr. Fried is a Professor, Clinical and Educational Scholarship Track of Rehabilitation Medicine, at Thomas Jefferson University.
