Deaths and head injuries involving motorcyclists have increased sharply in Pennsylvania since the repeal of the universal motorcycle helmet law in 2003. A University of Pittsburgh study showed that even after accounting for increased motorcycle registrations, there has been a 42 percent rise in head injury-related hospitalizations. These injuries often have a life-changing effect on riders and their families - from WHYY's behavioral health desk, Maiken Scott reports.
