Magee Rehabilitation Hospital to Host Custom Motorcycle Competition and Barbecue

When Diane Teofilak needed physical therapy after suffering a spinal cord injury last March, she arrived at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in the back of an ambulance.

This time, she'll arrive on the back of her boyfriend's Harley Davidson.

On Sunday, September 9 at 1:00pm, Magee Rehabilitation Hospital (15th&Race) will host Diane, her boyfriend Nick Kulhawik, and up to 50 other members of the Tri-State HOGs (Harley Owners Group) motorcycle Club for a custom motorcycle judging and barbecue.

It's Nick and Diane's way of giving back to the hospital - and its staff - for helping Diane this past spring.

"We feel compelled to thank everyone," said Kulhawik, who designed the event as something to be enjoyed by Magee patients and staff. "The prayers, thoughts, cards, phone calls, and visits that Diane experienced while at Magee had a huge impact. Positive energy is essential at this facility for a patient's recovery. A visitor not only effects the patient they see, but effects everyone at the hospital. We are grateful for the opportunity to be able to give some positive energy back."

And Harley Davidson's pack a lot of energy.

Patients and staff are invited to view the chromed out works of art in the hospital's garage, and vote on their favorite.

Following the judging, the Tri-State Hogs will visit with patients and staff on the rooftop and enjoy a barbecue, door prizes and giveaways.

"We'd like to thank Hannum's Harley Davidson, Delco Anglers, Brandywine Airport, Charlene Lauginiger, and Mel and Maragaret Meeham for the donations and door prizes we'll be sharing with the folks at Magee Sunday," said Kulhawik. "A lot of people wanted to be part of this event, and we're grateful for their generosity."
