12/16/2009 - Community Quarterback Award Winner, Jerry Segal, Honored with $50,000 Donation to Magee Rehabilitation Hospital
On December 15 at the NovaCare Complex, The Philadelphia Eagles and Teva Pharmaceuticals announced Jerry Segal of Philadelphia, PA as the Community Quarterback Award winner, honoring his non-profit, Magee Rehabilitation Hospital, with a $50,000 donation.

Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, Moms Against Guns’ Lynne Honickman and CeaseFirePa’s Phil Goldsmith were recognized for their efforts to get guns off our streets at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital’s 22nd Annual Humanitarian Award Dinner, held on November 17 at the Four Seasons Hotel.

11/30/2009 - Magee Rehabilitation Hospital's Mark Chilutti talked to the Philly Inquirer about his political challenge of John Perzel in 2000
Magee Rehabilitation Hospital's Assistant Vice President of Development, Mark Chilutti, ran against State Representative John Perzel in 2000, losing by only 93 votes. Perzel vowed never to have to win by such a small margin ever again, leading to 10 million dollars in tax-payer money being used in computer-campaigning. Perzel was recently indicted for his actions. Chilutti talked with the Philadelphia Inquirer about unintentionally becoming the catalyst for Perzel's downfall.

11/05/2009 - 20th Annual Jerry Segal Classic raises $850,000 for patients at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital
On September 25, Jerry Segal, the Segal Family and the Friends of Jerry Segal held the 20th Annual Jerry Segal Classic—the greater Philadelphia Region’s largest one-day golf event. Over 330 golfers showed up at Green Valley Country Club & the ACE Club to play golf, and later in the evening over 500 people attended the Classic’s dinner and auction at the Green Valley Country Club. When all was said and done, $850,000 dollars was raised to benefit the patients of Magee Rehabilitation Hospital, bringing the Classic’s twenty year total to over $8 million.

02/10/2009 - Magee Rehabilitation Hospital Opens Dialysis Center
On February 2, Magee opened a new dialysis center that provides inpatients with their necessary dialysis care while accommodating their therapy schedules.

02/04/2009 - Advance Magazine Interviews Magee Staff Involved with Iraqi Wheelchair Training Video Project
Physical and occupational therapists at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, put together a training video and materials with the US Army to help Iraqi citizens learn to properly use wheelchairs. On Jan. 20, Advance Magazine sent associate editor Lauren Fritsky and senior regional editor Rebecca Mayer to Magee to cover a ceremony honoring them for their efforts. Following the FDA's approval of embryonic stem cell research to treat humans with spinal cord injuries, CBS News interviewed Magee Rehabilitation Hospital's Dr. Chris Formal and Assistant Vice President of Development Mark Chilutti.

Former Magee patient Brian Hickey recalls the accident that has left him with severe brain and spinal injuries.

01/09/2009 - Magee Rehabilitation Hospital Staff Recognized by US Army for Wheelchair Training Video
Last summer, Magee Rehabilitation Hospital was asked by the US Army to create training materials such as posters, brochures, and a video to help Iraqi citizens learn to properly use wheelchairs. Magee happily obliged and the materials were sent to the Babil Regional Rehabilitation Center in the Babil Province in Iraq.

01/08/2009 - Ron Siggs Recertified as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE)
CFRE International has recertified Ronald Siggs as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). Ronald Siggs, Vice President of Development and Public Relations for Magee Rehabilitation Hospital joins over 5,000 professionals around the world who hold the CFRE designation.
