The American Horticultural Therapy Association has announced that National Horticultural Therapy Week will be celebrated from March 15-21. Magee Rehabilitation Hospital will honor this week by raising awareness throughout the hospital about disability-friendly gardening and using horticulture as therapy.

Magee’s Horticultural Therapist Jeannette Glennon-Morrissey will set up an information table on the second floor throughout the week. The table will provide information about gardening activities, horticultural therapy and education, and a list of accessible gardening tools. These accessible tools are designed specifically for gardeners with weakened motor skills. Seeds and bookmarks will be distributed as giveaways when patients visit the table to learn more about horticulture as therapy.

Patients and their families will have the opportunity to enter a drawing to win a garden-themed bag or basket.
