The Verizon Pioneers--a community outreach group made up of current and former Verizon employees and tehir families--will once again host a dessert party for patients and staff of Magee Rehabilitation Hospital at 16th&Race Streets on July 28. The dessert party will take place on the hospital's sixth floor rooftop, amongst the Philadelphia skyline.

The dessert party, which has been held for several years, was the brainchild of Magee’s former horticultural therapist, the late Linda Ciccantelli who reached out to the Verizon Pioneers in order to help find a way to get patients together and socializing.

"Some of our themed parties at Magee have been Mardi Gras,  Fall Harvest night, Beach party, Valentine’s and a Phillies night that included Phillies giveaways for every patient and grilled hot dogs out on the roof," said Jody Ryan of the Verizon Pioneers. "We‘ve even hosted pumpkin painting, haunted greenhouses and plant nights. Because our efforts are so well appreciated by the patients and their families, Magee has become one of our group's favorite projects.  We hope to continue this project."

Donations for the party are made by the volunteers, coworkers, friends and family of the Verizon Pioneers.
