Flu Season is beginning and Magee Rehabilitation Hospital is determined to protect its patients and staff.

Toward that end, starting November 1 Magee will be utilizing precautions recommended by the Center for Disease Control and the City of Philadelphia's Department of Health. They include the following:

Visitor restrictions: 

1) No children under the age of 16 will be allowed to visit patients at Magee. However, in some cases children will be alowed to visit a patient in the hopsital lobby
2) Only 2 healthy adults will be allowed to visit a patient at any given time.

Other restrictions:
  • Patients with flu-like symptoms will leave their room as little as possible
  • Flu vaccines will be provided to patients and staff (when available)
  • Masks and gloves will be provided to staff working with patients suspected of being infected with the flu.
  • Personal Protective Equipment also known as (PPE) including masks with eye shields, gloves, and gowns will be utilized when necessary.
  • Frequent hand washing for patients, visitors and staff will be strongly recommended.
  • Family and Friends who have cold/flu symptoms or who have had contact with sick people will be reminded not to visit patients.

Magee Rehabilitation Hospital, founded in 1958, is a 96-bed specialty medical rehabilitation hospital providing physical and cognitive rehabilitation services. Magee’s flagship facility is located in Center City Philadelphia.
