PCAS has a cycling program Saturday morning's that starts at 10:00 AM on West River Drive in Fairmount Park. This program begins in April and ends in October. If you have never been on a hand cycle, come down and give it a try. West River Drive is closed to motor traffic on weekends.

Philadelphia Rowing Program for the disabled. Learn to row in a safe environment on the beautiful Schuylkill River. Limited space available. The program starts in May end's in October.

A Recreation Expo For People With Disabilities

A free sports and recreation expo! This event happens once a year. The purpose of Rec'Day is to give people with disabilities a chance to view different sports and recreational programs. Learn about and participate in numerous activities! Swimming, hand cycling, horseback riding, wheelchair rugby, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair tennis, martial arts, sit-skiing, sled hockey, weightlifting, aerobics, rowing, sail gliding, music, art and more! (bring swimsuits to participate in water sports). We will post the date and location of next years Rec'Day soon as possible.

Magee Rehabilitation Hospital is hosting a theatre arts program for individuals with disabilities in the Philadelphia region. This marks the sixth year Magee has provided this program.
Participants will study a number of performing art genres including improvisation, play writing, mime, acting and comedy. The class is also designed to help individuals enhance memory, analytical and communication skills, body awareness, creativity, self-confidence, public speaking, flexibility and social skills. Registration for the class is $15.

Wheelchair dance companies have been forming all across the country for decades. Many of those include disabled and non-disabled people dancing together. Kardon Institute for Art Therapies in conjunction with Magee Rehabilitation and Moss Rehabilitation hospitals have form a Community Dance Project. The mission is to provide the dance experience disabled and non-disabled people ages 18 and older, enabled them to dance together and learn more about the art form.

No experience necessary for this project. The only requirement is having the desire to dance and the willingness to experiment through movement by moving with other in creative and expressive ways. The director/ choreographer will lead warm-up exercises that will promote strength, flexibility, and coordination. Sessions will also include learning and creating dances. Performance opportunities may also be available for those interested. Sessions are on going.
